Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Techotick is an editorial technology website operated by VaniTech. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website, contact us or register interest in our planned weekly digest.

For questions about your information or this policy, contact info@vanitech.com.au.

Information we collect

Newsletter interest: If you sign up for our future digest, we store your email address, the page where you signed up, the signup time, your consent record and your subscription or unsubscribe status. Subscriber email addresses are not yet verified, and no newsletter emails are currently sent.

Correspondence: If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Please avoid sending passwords, payment information or unnecessary sensitive information.

Technical information: Our hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages and request times to deliver the website, diagnose faults and prevent abuse.

Our own page-view counter stores aggregate totals by page and date. It does not store visitor identifiers, IP addresses or email addresses.

Cookies and optional Analytics

Techotick uses essential security cookies and a preference cookie that remembers your choices on this browser for up to 180 days.

Google Analytics is optional. It remains inactive until you enable Analytics in Cookie settings and save your choice. When enabled, Google may receive information about page visits, interactions, browsers, devices and online identifiers, and may store cookies such as _ga.

Read Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s information about Analytics data.

You can withdraw your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. This disables the configured Analytics tags and removes their accessible first-party Analytics cookies. Withdrawal does not undo processing that occurred before your choice changed.

You can also manage cookies through your browser or use Google’s Analytics opt-out tool.

Read our Cookie Policy for more information.

Planned Google advertising

We intend to apply for Google AdSense to help fund Techotick. Google advertising is not currently enabled. Our empty advertising placements do not load an advertising network.

If Google advertising is enabled, Google and other selected advertising vendors may use cookies or similar technologies to display advertisements, measure their performance and limit how frequently they appear.

Personalised advertising may take account of previous visits to Techotick and other websites. Information used may include online identifiers, browser or device details, IP addresses and interactions with advertisements.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s advertising privacy information.

You can manage Google’s personalised advertising through My Ad Center and some other vendors’ choices through YourAdChoices. These services have their own scope and do not replace consent choices on Techotick. Turning off personalisation does not necessarily stop all advertisements, cookies or measurement.

Before enabling advertising, we will update this policy and the available privacy controls to reflect the actual services, advertising partners and applicable consent requirements. Our current Analytics cookie settings do not provide consent for future advertising.

Why we use information

We use information to:

  • Deliver, maintain and protect the website.

  • Respond to enquiries, correction requests and privacy requests.

  • Record your interest and permission to receive a future weekly digest.

  • Understand aggregate readership.

  • Improve the website through optional Analytics when you choose to enable it.

  • Meet applicable legal obligations and address security incidents.

Where European data-protection law applies, we rely on consent for optional Analytics and future digest signup. Where appropriate, we rely on our legitimate interests in delivering and securing the website and answering correspondence, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.

Service providers and overseas processing

Techotick uses Umbraco Cloud hosting and Cloudflare security infrastructure. Google processes optional Analytics information when you enable it. Our contact email provider processes correspondence you send us.

These providers may process information outside Australia, including through infrastructure in the United States and other countries described in their privacy notices.

You can read:

No newsletter delivery provider is currently connected. We will update this policy with the relevant provider and processing details before enabling email delivery.

External websites linked from our articles have their own privacy practices.

Retention and security

We retain newsletter interest records while needed to record your interest and subscription preferences. Unsubscribing stops future digest use. We retain a minimal signup and opt-out record to prevent an ordinary repeat signup from reactivating the address. You can ask us to delete your record.

We retain correspondence for handling your enquiry and related legal or recordkeeping needs.

Hosting and Analytics information is subject to the relevant provider and service retention settings. The 180-day preference-cookie lifetime does not describe how long all other information is retained.

Subscriber administration is restricted to authenticated site administrators. Keep any personal unsubscribe link private. No website or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can read Techotick without signing up for the future digest or enabling Analytics.

When you register interest in the digest, save the personal unsubscribe link displayed after signup. Open that link and confirm to unsubscribe. If you lose it, contact us from the email address you used.

You can contact info@vanitech.com.au to:

  • Request access to information we hold about you.

  • Ask us to correct or delete your information.

  • Withdraw relevant consent.

  • Raise a privacy concern.

We may request enough information to verify your identity and protect other people’s information. We will consider requests under applicable law.

Where applicable, European privacy rights may also include restriction of processing, objection and data portability. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Privacy complaints

Please contact info@vanitech.com.au first with the details of your concern so we can investigate and respond.

You may also raise a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, where applicable, your European data-protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
